Three-dimensional reconstruction of a PET-CT scan of a 5-month-old infant with congenital hyperinsulinism. The focal lesion (orange) is located at the confluence of the superior and inferior mesenteric veins and the splenic vein to form the portal vein. At surgery, the lesion was found deeply embedded in pancreatic tissue at precisely this location, and limited pancreatic resection was curative. From the article by Barthlen et al., in this issue, pages 869–875.
