Radioimmunoassay and Bioassay of Human Growth Hormone and Human Prolactin*TOSHIAKI TANAKA, YOSHIMASA SHISHIBA, PETER W. GOUT, CHARLES T. BEER, ROBERT L. NOBLE and HENRY G. FRIESEN
Department of Pediatrics and Department of Endocrinology, Toranomon Hospital Tokyo, Japan 107; The rat lymphoma cell line was used to bioassay human GH (hGH) in 30 serum samples from 4 acromegalic patients and human PRL (hPRL) in 25 sera from 5 hyperprolactinemic patients. The ratio of the bioassay and RIA estimates of hGH was 0.96 ± 0.13 (mean ± SD) and of hPRL was 1.06 ± 0.14. There was no significant difference in the ratio of the bioassay and RIA estimates of hGH or hPRL during the time course of TRH tests in acromegalic or in hyperprolactinemic patients, respectively.
