Pituitary and thyroidal response to the iv administration of thyrotropin releasing hormone was assessed in 8 subjects on chronic methadone therapy. All subjects showed a normal rise of thyrotropin and triiodothyronine, suggesting that the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroidal axis is intact.
