Occurrence of Dehydroisoandrosterone Glucuronoside in Normal Human Urine1PENTI K. SIITERI, PH.D.2, RAYMOND L. VANDE WIELE, M.D.3 and SEYMOUR LIEBERMAN, PH.D.Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and of Biochemistry, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University New York City The isolation of dehydroisoandrosterone glucuronoside from normal human urine is described. When dehydroisoandrosterone was isolated from the urinary glucuronoside fraction after the administration of tritiated ehydroisoandrosterone, its specific activity was much larger than that of dehydroisoandrosterone isolated from the sulfate fraction. This indicates that the urinary sulfate is derived not only from dehydroisoandrosterone but also from the sulfate itself, which appears to be secreted by the adrenals.
